Rural Health Checkup For Children

KRWCDS conducted health checkup camps in the remote villages of Karwar district. We provided them with healthcare facilities which were not feasible to them. We along with government health officials went into these tribal villages and provided them the basic healthcare facilities.

Improving the Lives of the Underserved In Rural Areas

At KRWCDS, we understand and believe that early detection and treatment can curb the spread of a disease and lead the underprivileged sections of the society towards healthy living. Hence, KRWCDS started this project to bring primary healthcare services to the rural areas. The primary aim of this project is to attend to the health of women and children residing in the rural areas, and provide a wide range of preventive, promotive and curative healthcare services at their doorstep.

To serve the purpose, regular heath programs are conducted with a team of medical experts and community mobilizers which includes all the  facilities to provide medical consultation, diagnosis and lab testing services to the beneficiaries along with free distribution of medicines. Street plays, health talks and other IEC activities are conducted to sensitise rural people on the essence of nutrition and general hygiene. Pregnant women, being the ‘high-risk’ group, are given special counselling antenatal and postnatal care, immunization, breastfeeding and family planning. Referral services are also provided to connect the underserved communities with the government.

Community centered sustainable Health through local community Health workers

Since 1986 onwards the Health issues have been one of the major issues of the local interior villages of Karwar and Joida Taluks. Through women organizations, local active women had been selected, trained, consolidated, monitored and sustained through manifold health trainings and herbal medicines locally available in the forest. These 58 CHW’s had built a networking with the local Anganwadi teachers, ANM’s and other govt. Health departments. Through participatory process, the above personnels had complemented one another one another by sharing herbal medicines, local health cases management referral cases etc. This localized networking had brought about good benefits to these villages especially rural and forest tribal women and children. Government health programmes had been made accessible to the people. CHWs have become sustainable by the support of govt. health programmes. Local women organizations, through herbal medicines and other services of  CHWs to the people around 8000 families from 106 villages had benefitted through health intervention through these following programmes, mal nutritions cases, anti natal and post natal cases. Early detection of Disability, HIV, TB cases, reproductive tract infections, sexual transmitted diseases, monkey fever etc. These CHWs had trained to take care of delivery cases during the emergency.
